Cisco Catalyst 1200-8T-D is an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch designed specifically for the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. It combines affordability with enterprise-class features that you typically won't find in standard or consumer switches. The switch runs on its own Linux-based operating system and provides flexible management options via Cisco Business Dashboard or mobile application.
Thanks to its compact desktop design measuring 160 × 128 × 30 mm and weighing just 0.54 kg, it's ideal for installation in small offices, stores, or classrooms. The switch offers two power options – a standard AC adapter or power via PoE input (802.3af) on port 1, enabling flexible deployment even in locations without an available electrical outlet.
Easy management and configuration
The switch supports management via Cisco Business Dashboard with built-in probe, eliminating the need for separate hardware. A modern web interface with configuration wizards is also available, along with Cisco Network Plug and Play support for easy installation and CLI access via Telnet, SSH. For wireless management, an external Bluetooth dongle connected to the USB port can be used.
Advanced network protocols
The switch supports Spanning Tree Protocol (STP, RSTP, MSTP, PVST+, RPVST+) for network redundancy, Link Aggregation (IEEE 802.3ad LACP) with up to 4 groups of 8 ports, IGMP snooping (v1/v2/v3) for efficient multicast, and IPv6 including dual IPv4/IPv6 stack, MLD snooping, and IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling (ISATAP).
Reliability and performance
With 1.5 MB packet buffer memory, MAC address table for 8000 entries, and support for jumbo frames up to 9000 bytes, the switch ensures high performance even under heavy load. Fanless design with operating temperature of 0 to 50 °C and MTBF of 3,277,956 hours at 25 °C guarantees long-term reliability.
